One ingredient, five sourced answers — never a guess dressed up as one.

Tamats resolves a single ingredient — by common or INCI name — against a CosIng-derived dictionary for its function and CAS/CosIng identity, a live CIR safety search for its cited safety record, a curated set of pairwise incompatibility rules, a check for whether it sits at or below the INCI 1% ordering line as a marketed active (underdose, or 'fairy-dusting'), and the EU Annex III fragrance-allergen declaration list. Every field says where it came from, and an ingredient with no CIR record or no matched incompatibility rule reports that absence honestly rather than implying safety. It has no molecular structure data behind it, so there is no structural-similarity or QSAR prediction, and no comedogenicity rating anywhere in the product.

Most ingredient questions a formulator asks have several different real answers bundled into one — what is this, is it safe, what does it conflict with, is it declared at the dose it's sitting at. Bundling them into one fabricated paragraph is exactly the failure mode a general assistant falls into. Tamats keeps each answer traceable to what it actually came from, and says plainly when one of the five has nothing to report.

Resolved against a CosIng-derived dictionary — the ingredient's declared function(s), CAS number and CosIng id where the source provides them, keyed to the canonical database entry rather than the raw text you typed.
Cited CIR safety record
A live search against Cosmetic Ingredient Review findings; an ingredient with no CIR record on file says so rather than reporting a fabricated clearance.
Curated pairwise incompatibilities
A small, individually-cited set of known conflicts — pH-window clashes like L-ascorbic acid and niacinamide, oxidative pairs like benzoyl peroxide and a retinoid, ionic-charge conflicts — checked against your formula. A clean result reports what was checked, never 'safe'.
Underdose ('fairy-dusting') detection
Flags a marketed active — niacinamide, a peptide, an AHA — that sits at or below the INCI 1% ordering line, so a front-of-box claim can be checked against whether the active is actually present at an efficacious dose.
EU Annex III allergen declaration
Flags fragrance allergens from both tiers of Annex III against your formula's declared concentrations and the leave-on/rinse-off threshold that applies, so a declaration requirement isn't missed at the label stage.

Questions

Can Tamats predict whether two ingredients will react using their molecular structure?
No — there is no SMILES data, structural-similarity search or QSAR model behind ingredient lookup. What it checks is a small, individually-cited set of known pairwise conflicts (pH, oxidation, ionic charge); anything outside that set is not evaluated.
What does 'underdosed' or 'fairy-dusted' mean?
A marketed active — the ingredient the front of the box makes a claim about — sitting at or below the INCI ordering line where ingredients may be listed in any order below one percent. That position doesn't prove the active is present at too low a dose, but it is the signal worth verifying, and Tamats flags it against the formula's own declared or estimated concentrations.
Does an ingredient with no flagged incompatibility mean it's safe to combine with anything?
No. The incompatibility check covers a small, curated set of known conflicts with their own citations — a clean result means none of those specific rules matched, not that the ingredient has been cleared against everything it could be combined with.
